Q: Why do I have to create an account here if I've already done that on The Mission Exchange web site?
A. This social networking portal runs on a separate online database from the rest of our website; that means you will have to create a new account here to participate, but ONLY ONCE!
Q: How can this help me connect with others in ways that advance the kingdom and help us do mission more effectively?
A. One of the primary value propositions of The Mission Exchange is harnessing the collective wisdom and experience of our more than 150 member organizations (including Affiliate Members). If you are wrestling with a question about mobilizing new missionaries, short-term missions, local church partnerships, member care, business and finance, et cetera, you can be sure others have probably already "pushed this ball" a little farther down the field than you. Find the group that matches the topic of your question and learn from the experiences of others.
Q: How do you protect the security of information and still maximize the value of collaboration?
A. Security of information is critical; and you can be sure the levels of encryption are just as robust as any financial site you frequent. Questions about security also explain why we are using moderated groups. Only individuals who serve on the staff of a member organization of The Mission Exchange or who have been invited to a group by a member of The Mission Exchange will be allowed to participate in moderated groups.
When seeking to join a moderated group, individuals will need to include the organization with whom they serve AND someone in that organization who can verify both their identity and reason for wanting to join the group. We realize this will add an extra burden for moderators and an extra step for new group members. But we believe security questions demand this level of vigilance. Do NOT share anything in an open group that you would not want posted openly on a web site.
Q: How can I join a moderated group?
A. You simply provide the information requested when you sign up. The moderator will follow-up with you directly. If you do not serve on the staff of one of our member organizations you will need to be invited by another member of the group.
